Times Are Changing



Who’s with me?

Well it’s the fourth month into the year and I began to think about my overall goal of getting healthy. And while I haven’t done nothing for the last four months, I’m still not happy with where I am. I went to the gym for about two and a half months before something happened in my head and I stopped going. I stopped for about three weeks and what a difference three weeks make. I feel like everything I had done for the two and a half months prior did nothing. I felt like I had already failed at my overall goal. I know I’ve written posts about not being too hard on yourself when you fall off. But I have plummeted to the bottom and and I scratching my way up. How do you dig yourself out?

I think I started with one of my moments of clarity. This weekend I got to see my three best friends for Easter weekend. We are picture crazy and those annoying people who take four copies of the same exact picture. When the pictures were posted on line I wanted to throw up in my mouth a little. I just looked at the screen and thought, “is that me? Who ate me?” and I hate that feeling. I was looking at this blob on the screen and wanted to cry a little. I adore my friends and will print off the pictures for my memory books, but do I print off a picture for a before shot?

I was watching “Celebrity Fit Club” finale the other night (yes I watch that show. Jay McCarroll makes me giggle). And as I was watching it I thought to myself, “I would love to have a before and after photo”. And then I thought of how I would get to the after. A revamp of my original goal if you will. It started with me realizing that this is ridiculous and that the only person to blame is myself. No one forced me to eat the chips, or the cake or the pizza. I just wanted it. And that needs to change. I need to reach for the salad fixings instead of soup. I need to keep eating oatmeal in the morning instead of a cinnabun. I just need to. Step one… on it’s way.

Step two was easier. Change the scene. I liked my gym at work but for some reason I wasn’t going anymore. So I decided to change my scene. My roommate heard on the radio that World’s Gym is having free registration right now until Friday. Gym, unlimited classes and unlimited tanning? Sold. (I know the tanning part is awful but hunny, I make white chocolate look Jamaican). We went last night and signed up and it was for free!! And I felt a million times better and a little lighter. I am going with my roommate but I’m hoping that when she can’t I still go and push myself to be better.

Step three. Who’s with me? I’ve had a ton of support and love through this whole process. People saying they are proud of me and find what I say an inspiration. Some of the kindest sentiments I’ve heard in a long time. So I’m wondering, who’s with me? Who is going to go through the steps with me? Share healthy yummy recipes, work out tips and uplifting convos. Things that help each other and everyone around us. Who’s willing to say, “I need to healthier too and I want to do this too!” who’s willing to look at that before picture and say, “Never again”? There is only weight. There’s strength in numbers, if we team up we’ll beat weight every time. We will win, cause when it gets down to it, what choice do we have? So I’m just curious, who’s with me?

    yup…in the boat, bought some new running shoes yesterday, bought some fruit and veggies today…have only had soda maybe a few times in the last few months…LETS KNOCK THIS WEIGHT TO THE GROUND!!

        I support and will join you in your efforts. You can be in my face if I can be in your face. We need to get rid of the muffin and bagel for mid morning snack and replace it with fruit.

    Celebrity Fit Club is great, but they don’t let anyone drink wine. That concerns me a bit… 🙂

    I’m with you, Deez is with you, this whole damn town is with you! We love you so get your white chocolate ass to the gym and work it girl! When is comes to shows I’m loyal to Teen Mom, but I do like Biggest Loser better than Celebrity Fit Club, I record it and skip all the mushy crap. Hope to see you soon!
